His Holiness the Dalai LamaThe leader of one of the major religions of the world has come out, as a feminist.

During his acceptance speech for the “International Freedom Award,” his holiness the Dalai Lama said he was a feminist to a cheering crowd in Memphis, Tennessee.

I call myself a feminist. Isn’t that what you call someone who fights for women’s rights? … Whether you believe this religion or that religion, we are all the same human beings. We all come from the same mother. That creates the basis for compassion.

The Dalai Lama is the spiritual head of Buddhism and the exhiled leader of Tibet.
