Daughter Claims 'Papa' Raped Her With Consent

Mack // It has been claimed that John Phillips, co-founder of the Mamas and Papas singing group, repeatedly raped his daughter throughout his lifetime.
His daughter, Mackenzie Phillips, claimed on Oprah that he first assaulted her on the night before her wedding when she was 19-years-old.
Mackenzie claims that, in spite of waking up many mornings “after drug-fueled events with my pants around my ankles and my father sleeping beside me”, that it became a consensual relationship and continued for ten years.
Mackenzie also said that “someone has to put a face on consensual and non-consensual incest”.
She has been criticised for telling this story simply to sell her memoir, released within days of her Oprah appearance. But regardless of her motives, Mackenzie has clearly had very disturbing experiences, probably needs professional help to deal with this, and has sparked a ferocious debate about consent.
