Brazilian Waxes For Ten Year Olds And Other Sexy Australian Milestones
October 6, 2009 No Comments
Thousands of parents, teachers and children in Australia were surveyed to reveal a scary list of milestones in the minds of young girls. Brand names, Brazilian waxes and blow jobs are all necessary experiences for the under 14 set.
Maggie Hamilton is a teacher who focused her research on the sexualization of children. She found discovered some shocking trends in modern children. Her research showed:
At the ages of two to five, many girls want bras tailored for toddlers. They paint their nails and wear lip gloss.
By six, they want brand name clothes and handbags.
By eight, they diet.
By ten, they get their first Brazilian wax.
By thirteen, they give blow jobs and send “sexy” photos to boys.
By fourteen, many girls have already had 20 sexual partners.
Obviously this is a case of a researcher and journalist cherry-picking the most salacious facts to shock the reader. That said, it still blows my mind.
“We’re seeing an increasing number of mums allowing little girls, as soon as they get their periods, to get Brazilian waxes,” Hamilton said. “We’re talking 10 and 11.”
What are their mothers thinking? That last thing a emotional, cramping and confused girl needs is more pain inflicted on that area.
And what are they waxing?
“At one school this 12-year-old came up to me and said, ‘thank you for telling all the adults about what it is like for us. I don’t know where to start with Mum’,” Ms Hamilton said.
She said the girl confided about her peers getting into “sex stuff” not because they wanted to but because “they are just doing it”.
“We haven’t thought through the impact of exposing our kids to stuff so early on,” Ms Hamilton said.
I am not as concerned about these girls being sexualized so early as I am about them being sexual playthings. Are these little girls going down on their classmates getting anything in return, or are they just learning that to get attention they must put out?
Hamilton blames the marketing machine, but I blame the moms. They clearly believe that to get ahead, their girls must give it. Maybe this is what life has taught them, but what a shame to pass that onto their girls. I would rather raise a woman than a walking vagina.
