Lads’ Magazines Ruled Not Pornography
October 6, 2009 No Comments
Mack // Scottish Women Against Pornography (SWAP) have lost their bid to have ‘lads magazines’ labeled as porn and restricted away from children in the shops.
I’m sorry ladies, but as much as you might not like them, these magazines are not porn and there are some far worse influences on children out there.
The Members of Parliament involved in this said that:
Display of obscene or indecent material, such as pornographic magazines, was already restricted by law and argued restrictions over lesser material did not clearly justify government intervention, which would cost extra cash to enforce.
Although there are scantily clad women who might not be appropriate for young children to see, it’s no different than going to the beach where children will see women in bikinis. Granted, the cover girls are often pouting their sexy lips or pushing up their cleavage, but, so long as it is not a picture of a sex act or nudity (i.e. nipples), they will not be deemed as pornography.
Besides, I firmly believe that selling little girls Bratz dolls, dressing them in mini-skirts and heels, or buying bras and Brazillian waxes for 10-year-olds is far worse for them than seeing the covers of those lads magazines. It’s up to the parents to educate their children about sex and a few cleavage shots will not negate a parent’s lessons.
