“Dude, Her Head’s Bigger Than Her Pelvis”

Model Filippa Hamilton was cut down to size in this Ralph Lauren photoshopping disaster.
The naturally beautiful model looks alien with a whittled waist, seemingly too small to include internal organs. Her voluptuous curves have disappeared, leaving her neither sexy nor aspirationally thin.
Has Ralph Lauren’s concept of beauty become so distorted they think this looks good?
Xeni Jardin on boingboing originally posted the photo in September with the caption: Dude, her head’s bigger than her pelvis.
The company responded by getting their lawyers to write nasty letters to the website, demanding they take the pic down. Then Ralph Lauren responded with this comment:
For over 42 years we have built a brand based on quality and integrity. After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body. We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the caliber of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.
The shame of it all is that Filippa Hamilton is a beautiful woman with an enviable body. Jezebel posted this pic of her by Fabio Chizzola shot for Russian Elle magazine in July. If I was Ralph, I’d aim for that next photo shoot.
