Marilyn Manson Beats, Rapes, And Kills

Marilyn Manson has released a new video in which he repeatedly beats a bloody woman in her underwear. Then rapes and kills her.
This woman bears a striking resemblance to his ex, Evan Rachel Wood.
There is a general debate about how much music videos influence young people and will they think this is normal behaviour and go out and copy it.
This video is so extreme there’s no way anyone could possibly think it’s normal.
But this is irrelevant; even if nobody copies it, it is incredibly misogynistic and revolting and should not be tolerated. The media is calling it “torture porn”.
If I were Ms Wood I would be scared after seeing this and Manson reportedly saying: “I have fantasies every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer.”
We’ve all had fantasies about hurting our exes, but this goes way too far!
Though it may be in poor taste, and many may find it repugnant (I haven’t seen it, nor intend to look it up), I would still rather live in a society which does not have morality police for the arts and culture, nor censors such things. Galileo, Lenny Bruce, Mandela, and many, many others were (and still are, such as Russian Journalists) jailed because of intolerance of their beliefs. We as a society need to support freedom of expression even if it does not suit personal tastes.
And not everything is meant for children who cannot discern the difference between normative behaviours and art/fantasy/fiction; parents can’t blame television or music. It is still their own responsibility to rear children, instill values, monitor viewing behaviours, and, if necessary, press the off button.
