She Has A Total Test Tube Figure

HourglassModern women are shunning the traditional hour glass figure. They want smaller hips, but are willing to accept larges waists.

This trend towards a more masculine figure has been along time coming, as Tom Wolfe famously called the style “boys with breasts.”

Women also want to lose more weight than their 1950s counterparts.

The study subjected modern women and men to the same questions put to Americans in 1954.

“The increase in ideal waist size and decrease in ideal hip size reflects a change in the ideal female figure from the hourglass figure coveted in the 1950s to today’s tubular, more androgynous ideal, with little differentiation between the waist and hips.” The study also found that modern woman’s perception of what men wanted in the female shape was not accurate.

The ideal woman’s figure, from a male perspective, matched the average female body shape. The women who took place in the study thought men fancy a more petite frame.

Speaking of petite, Mr 1954 wanted to be larger, and the modern man wants to be smaller almost everywhere (*ahem).
