Muslim Laws Have British Woman Arrested For Being Raped In Dubai

A British woman and her fiancé were on holiday in Dubai celebrating their engagement when she was allegedly raped in the hotel bathroom after passing out from too much alcohol.
She and her fiancé reported this to police and were quickly arrested for illegal drinking and sex outside of marriage. They could face up to six years in jail.
“She was then made to give a blood test to prove she had been drinking, and only was given access to proper medical checks following an appeal from the British embassy, it is claimed.”
Her cellmate thinks they were harder on her because she is of Muslim decent and not living by Muslim laws.
“Her attacker is believed to have denied rape, claiming she consented, but he has also been charged with ‘illegal sex’.”
There is no excuse for the treatment this woman and her fiancé have suffered. As if being raped isn’t traumatic enough they had to add the shame of arrest, humiliation, and not even providing her medical care.
Dubai has no hope of ever joining the leagues of the Western world in business and industry, in spite of their achievements, if they continue to operate under these archaic, sexist, and inhumane laws.
The devoutly religious make such wonderful contributions to the world. If only we could all embrace a little more faith and militantly follow the teachings of an ambiguously translated text, written by manipulative individuals that have been dead for several thousand years. Oh what wonder and joy it would bring to our lives. Such faith would surely bring forth all of the best, most intelligent and most advanced aspects of the human race.
