Focus On The Family Ad Focuses On Family, Ignores Abortion

February 8, 2010 No Comments

When the ad was finally revealed it was innocuous. In fact, it didn’t mention abortion at all. But should the station still allow anti-abortion groups like Focus on the Family to use the Super Bowl to spread their propaganda?

(Video after jump)

Why not?

The ad was well within the standards for what would be accepted. It just told the sweet story of a family that had medical trouble (which resulted in a Heisman Trophy-winner).

Now the website itself it not particularly clear about its agenda but once you click on the option to hear their whole (10 minute) story you understand where they are going.

While I don’t like what they’re promoting or how they’re promoting it, they’re not exactly ramming it down anyone’s throats. You have to watch the ad, go to the website and then decide to watch a long video.

People should be able to hear that message if they want to, and we have to have faith that they’ll be clever enough to make the right decision.
