Cigarettes: The New Oral Sex
February 24, 2010 No CommentsA new stop smoking ad suggests an analogy between fellatio and smoking.
The intentionally shocking images have caused a furor in France.
The ads show older men pushing their hands on the heads of the young man and woman kneeling before them. The cigarettes are in the same position the penis would be. The tag-line reads: “Smoking means being a slave to tobacco”.
Of course the smokers are mad and the sexual abuse people say it trivializes a real problem. But I want to know where the pro-fellatio people stand in all this.
Why take a perfectly natural part of the sexual experience and make it seem so sordid and disgusting?
Cigarettes are produced for profit and contain known carcinogens which affect the smoker and those around them. While smoking can be fun (oh, it is!) it is also pretty disgusting if you are not the one doing it. It also causes wrinkles, stains teeth and fingers, and is a ridiculously expensive habit.
Fellatio, on the other hand, is a bonding and recreational activity which is fun for everyone involved. It costs nothing and has known stress relieving and health benefits. Unlike smoking, which often occurs in public places, blow jobs rarely happen nearby people who aren’t participating, so the ick factor is kept to a minimum.
“As far as I know, practicing fellatio doesn’t cause cancer,” said Antoinette Fouque, an activist with the Movement for Women’s Liberation.
So, one behalf of everyone who likes giving or receiving, I say: Allez au diable!
