Pubic Hair Is Back And Here To Stay
April 21, 2010 3 CommentsPubic hair is shocking.
Proper ladies don’t have it, assuming it shows a lack of hygiene and general slothfulness.
It’s also just so damn messy.
However in a recent photo shoot for French Vogue, Crystal Renn proves that it is also just so damn sexy. [NSFW]
Pubic hair was disappearing. It went from the wild bushes of the 70s, to the bikini wax of the 80s, to the landing strip of the 90s, and ended with the Brazilian.
Whenever the pubes did show up in public, they were an embarrassment — a wisp or two sneaking outside a bathing suit and highlighted with the red circle of shame in celebrity magazines. Definitely nothing to aspire to.
But a shift is beginning to take place.
In January pictures were leaked of Elle MacPherson wearing a bikini that showed a shadow of pubic hair. The professional celebuhaters went wild and told her she needed a wax. They assumed it was a mistake, but I’m not so sure.
She’s a woman with her finger on the pulse of fashion and unlikely to make such a rookie mistake. It was tastefully done and looks nice, sexy even (that is if you notice it at all).
French Vogue, also known as the fashionista’s bible, has decided to give its blessing to the hair down there. In the May Issue, Crystal Renn will be shown in all her glory.
If this isn’t the death knell of the Brazilian I don’t know what is.
Hollywood Wants To Hold Me By The Short And Curlies When I’m Pregnant

Thank the goddess for this, let’s hope it’s not just a trend. But I wonder, as Crystal Renn is a plus-size model, will there still be an association between fat and uncleanliness? I certainly hope not. She is gorgeous in all her glory

Good point. Maybe what is acceptable with an alternative model might not work with some of the more average models.
Or perhaps because she is so wildly popular now they feel they can push the boundaries with her — that she can do no wrong. (Mick)
Either way, I hope this continues. (Mack)
