Women Need To Get More Anal
April 22, 2010 2 CommentsA lot of people say anal isn’t really sex. It’s a good alternative which preserves their virginity or keeps their numbers down. Whatever.
The thing is that it still requires a condom and less than a quarter of women polled by the NYC Department of Health report used protection.
The report, “Women, Unprotected Anal Sex and HIV Risk” polled people between 18 and 64 and found that while a responsible 61% of the gay male population used condoms, only 23% of the women did.
That is truly terrifying.
The sensitive membrane in the anus can tear much more easily than the vagina, and studies have shown that it increases the possibility of HIV transmission by 30 times.
“Tens of thousands of New Yorkers are engaging in sexual behavior that is especially risky,” said Dr. Thomas Farley, New York City Health Commissioner.
“Many people are aware of the risk of HIV when men have sex with other men, but this report shows that a large number of women also are putting themselves at high risk through unprotected anal sex.”
Part of the reason for this massive oversight must be that straight people use protection to ward off pregnancy and disease, but for homosexuals it’s just about keeping healthy.
Another reason might be that with other options on the table, anal might be less likely for one night stands and more common in committed relationships, where we hope both people have been tested.
So to the 77% of women and 39% of men in New York who like to poke the brown star — you need to get more anal about your bum play.
