Cougars Beware: Dating Younger Men Will Probably End Up Killing You

It looks like Cougars might be an endangered species.
Although dating a younger man might make you feel young and sexy again, research has shown that in the long-term it will end up killing you at a younger age.
Researchers looked at two million couples and found that when women have a younger husband by seven years it will increase her “chances of dying earlier by 20 per cent”.
Whereas men with a younger partner end up living longer, with the mortality risk reduced by 11% if he is seven to nine years older than his wife.
Dr Drefahl, a sociologist, believed that having a toy boy may mean more stress for women because they are “violating social norms and thus suffer from social sanctions.”
They could be regarded as outsiders and receive less social support, resulting in “a less joyful and more stressful life, reduced health, and finally, increased mortality,” he said.
I think there might be a difference between just dating and getting married. Often women get kudos for dating a younger man, but if she actually wants to settle down with him perhaps it’s a different matter altogether.
I know I always thought it was a good move for old age, because if men generally die younger than women, with a younger partner you are more likely to have your husband around to entertain you when you are old.
The conclusion of the study was that “the best choice for a woman is to marry a man of exactly the same age.”
