Exercise Is Good For Mum And Baby, But Let Dad Do The Housework

Pregnant women are not in need of special care. We have been doing this since the beginning of time and people need to stop patronising pregnant women.
Don’t go horse riding or play rugby, but beyond that research has shown that exercise, even strenuous exercise, is good for both mother and child.
“Women who are healthy and do not have pregnancy complications should not restrict their activities in order to achieve a better pregnancy outcome. They may safely continue their normal daily physical activities, including strenuous activities like jogging, squash and weight training even until late in pregnancy.”
Interestingly, researchers found that “mentally unstimulating work” increased the chances of premature birth by up to 25%. This included doing a lot of housework.
So it looks like the best way to have a healthy baby is to exercise, eat well, keep your mind working, and leave the housework for your husband!

As well as an aid to keeping healthy during pregnancy, it will train up your husband for the time after the baby is born. You won’t have time for housework for several years.
