Male Menopause Or Just Plain Lazy?
June 18, 2010 No Comments
Has your husband been blaming his lack of energy or low sex drive on male menopause?
Research has just shown that this affects less than 1% of middle age men and 5% over 70.
Looks like that husband of yours might just be lazy!
Researchers defined male menopause as having abnormally low levels of testosterone.
The symptoms of this are usually sexual (like low libido or erectile problems) or psychological (like poor concentration or anxiety), but with such a small number of men affected why does everyone talk about male menopause like it’s common knowledge?
This is easy. The researchers picked a number that defines abnormally low levels of testosterone, but testosterone levels will lower for all men as they age.
But what’s wrong with this? It’s perfectly normal and men don’t need to be thrill-seekers or extreme sport enthusiasts their whole lives.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with slowing down the pace and enjoying just hanging out in your garden or reading the newspaper. And doesn’t everybody get a bout of moodiness now and then?
Luckily for those who do have a problem, hormone replacement therapy can help.
But if laziness is the only thing plaguing you, it’s time for a prod in the backside (and hey, that might even help with the erection problem, too).
