Are You Man Enough To Talk About Your Feelings On The Radio?

The BBC has been running a program called Woman’s Hour since 1946 and have now decided they need a men’s equivalent.
Men’s Hour will be on a station that has a lot of sports content in the hopes to catch a bigger audience.
But do men really need their own show?
On a station that plays mostly sports it seems unlikely that the station isn’t mostly men already. And surely there are times when they call in to ask program hosts about problems they are having.
They claim the show will “delve into unchartered emotional territory for men, bringing real candour to the challenges of relationships and life”. And cover topics like sports, entertainment, and politics with the host and an “on-hand shrink”. It will cover Questions You Daren’t Ask Your Doctor and Midlife Music Crisis.
I think, if done well, this could be really good.
It could actually provide a forum for men to talk about problems of the modern man without being judged. They could finally have a place to be open about gender issues, raising a family, sex and relationships, health, and the conundrum of how a modern man is supposed to behave.
On the other hand, if it’s not done well, it will devolve into sports, beer, power-tools, sexy women and not even touch on the deeper issues.
What do you think? Are modern English men man enough to talk about what’s really going on in their lives?
