Maggie Gyllenhaal To Star In Movie About Vibrators

August 20, 2010 2 Comments

Boy does the Gyllenhaal family know how to have a good time!

We told you recently about Jake starring in a Viagra movie, and today it’s been revealed that his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, is going to star in a movie about the invention of the vibrator.

The vibrator was invented accidentally and originally used to help cure women of “hysteria”, an illness that only affected women and was cured by orgasm. This happened in the 1880s and they were sold in big department store catalogues to housewives.

The sleek and smooth sex toys we all know and love once started out as big clunky machines.

Maggie says:

I play a firecracker whose father is a doctor who is in the business of curing hysterical women. He cures them basically by getting them off and that actually happened.

You can see a slide show of the history of vibrators here.

This movie is scheduled to come out in 2011. I’m buzzing with excitement!
