Women Paid Less For 57 More Years

The Equal Pay Act was created in Britain forty years ago to help reduce the salary differences between men and women.
A study was just released to say that male and female salaries will not be equal until at least 2067!
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) surveyed over 43,000 employees in 197 organizations.
Some findings:
- senior level management men get up to 24% more than women in the same position
- male junior executives make more than £1,000 more than women in the same position
- women across the UK are paid 79% of male rates (one of the biggest wage gaps in Europe)
- women are more likely to be made redundant
CMI has launched an “ambitious women toolkit” with practical advice on asking for pay rises, how to challenge unequal pay, and tips on returning to work from maternity leave.
I really don’t want to have to wait 57 years for equal pay. That means we could still be in the same situation when my grandchildren are born! This is not right and we need to act now.
