A Name Change After Marriage Isn’t Really News

When should a name change be considered news? When it’s a lesbian changing her name to that of her partner of course!
I don’t get it. Women change their names all the time after they get married and nobody bats an eyelash. But now that Portia De Rossi has become Portia Degeneres, after her partner Ellen Degeneres, suddenly this is something worth talking about.
I know I am as well, but I really don’t think it’s worth the time.
I do, however, think they are a great couple to be role models for other lesbians.
They managed to get married in California during a short time when gay marriage was legal there. Ellen has always been a pioneer for gay rights and it looks like that will continue.
