No, Pregnancy Does Not Last One Year
October 7, 2010 No CommentsWith all the information floating around cyberspace about sex it looks like something is missing: what happens after that baby is born?
A survey of over 2,000 18- to 25-year-olds in the UK found some astonishing results.
–20% think pregnancy lasts a year
–10% think eating red meat influences the sex of the baby
–50% think the baby will walk and talk by one year old
–20% think the umbilical cord is a musical note
Clearly, young people have no idea what the normal development of a baby looks like.
I suppose this might not matter. Once people get pregnant by accident and find a doctor, they will learn all they need to know. And hopefully, if they are planning a pregnancy, they will actively learn all they need to know beforehand.
What really upsets me is that more than a quarter of women would want plastic surgery to get their pre-baby body back. And one-fifth think women are better at changing diapers.
Should sex education in school teach young people about raising children, in addition to birth control?
