It’s Time To Stop Acting “Like A Man”

Tony Porter, an educator and activist against violence against women, has called for men to stop “acting like a man” and to break out of the “man box.”

This “man box” is what he calls the “collective socialization of men”. It perpetuates the idea that men are not allowed to have feelings, that they are superior to women, that women are weak, and that it’s okay to hurt women because they are worthless.

See this great video of his talk for TEDWomen. It’s a call for equality and an acknowledgement that “my liberation as a man is tied to your liberation as a woman.”
