Clowns Help Women Get Pregnant
January 13, 2011 No CommentsHaving trouble getting pregnant? Why not invite a clown into your bedroom?
A study in an IVF fertility centre looked at women who had seen a clown performance shortly after embryo transfer and those who hadn’t, and found that there was double the chance of conception for those who’d had their funny bones tickled.
What this really boils down to is stress levels and hormones.
- [Researcher] Friedler said more studies were needed to see if other stress-reducing techniques might be useful, noting that it wasn’t clear if the clown intervention had actually worked to curb stress. Researchers also don’t know what role emotional stress might play in IVF success.
The process of IVF and infertility are incredibly stressful and can play havoc on a family’s health. Starting a family and having a child are supposed to be happy events, but often the opposite is true.
They say more research is needed, but what we can take away from this is that do everything you can to reduce your stress and you might have a better chance of conception. And if their research is wrong, well at least you will be in a better mood to deal with the problems.
