Punishment For Oral Sex? Cancer
February 1, 2011 No CommentsA rise in head and neck cancers has been blamed on oral sex.
“It seems like a pretty good link that more sexual activity, particularly oral sex, is associated with increased HPV infection,” said Dr. Greg Hartig, from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison.
He said that up to 70% of tonsil cancers are related to the human papillomavirus. Which means that the cancer isn’t caused by the sex act itself, but the virus.
We’re hardly going to stop taking trips downtown, so the solution might just be to start offering the HPV vaccine to boys, as well as girls. Presently less than one percent of boys have been vaccinated, despite the fact that they can pass the virus on to women.
Maybe now that the vaccine is protecting oral sex, instead of just women’s lives, the old men in Washington will take it a little more seriously.
