Woman Arrested For Selling Her 11-Year-Old Daughter’s Virginity
May 25, 2011 No CommentsUtah is making all the headlines today. But this time, it is particularly gruesome.
A mother from Salt Lake City, UT has been charged with two counts of aggravated sex abuse and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor for trying to sell her 11-year-old daughter’s virginity for $10,000. Felicia Rea McClure’s negotiation was allegedly discovered by her boyfriend Richard Glazer, who found a series of text messages discussing the deal on her phone with a man called “Don.”
Court documents claim she made the offer after the man asked about oral sex with her daughter. The girl told police she initially consented to the trade but backed out soon after.
It states that McClure took her daughter to a Victoria’s Secret store with “Don,” where she opened the dressing room door for him to watch the girl model bras and thong underwear.
But that’s not all. She is also accused of sending pictures of the girl wearing lingerie to another man in exchange for cash, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. But no information has been revealed about who these men are or if they’ve been identified.
How does someone go so low as to sexually trade their own child, especially when they are not entirely able to judge what the repercussions will be for themselves? All sex trafficking should be stopped, but child trafficking is one of the most traumatic and reprehensible offenses that exist.
On the other hand, that a girl’s virginity is still seen as such a valuable commodity is almost more disturbing. This young girl will now have to live with this belief and fear that she can be sold for money — and that there is demand for it — for a long time. No one should have to live like that.
Sex trafficking doesn’t just happen overseas; it’s going strong inside US borders too.
