Bestiality Banned In Florida
May 28, 2011 No CommentsThat’s right, along with changing laws regarding pensions and citrus farming Florida Gov. Rick Scott passed a bill yesterday that outlawed bestiality.
The even stranger thing is that it took the Legislator three tries before this law finally passed. Other legislatures were squeamish and thought it was a waste of time because bestiality never happened, according to an article from the Miami Herald.
The sad truth is that bestiality does still happen. In 2009 a man in Florida was arrested for asphyxiating a goat while he was having sex with it. There was not much the state could do to punish him, because bestiality was not illegal. There are still 17 US states where bestiality (also known as zoophilia) is legal.
This is just another example of how we take some things in the bible so seriously and not others. Conservatives make religious arguments over abortion rights and gay marriage, yet I didn’t see anyone protesting bestiality lately.
Yes, it’s frowned upon and illegal in most places, but why not take bestiality as seriously as gay marriage? Why not all or nothing? It is ridiculous when a country is more outraged by gay marriage then by having sex with animals.
