Women Are War Booty
June 7, 2011 1 CommentIt’s one thing to agree with the exchange of sex for money and quite another to propose it should be legal for women to be sex slaves.
Salwa al Mutairi, a female Kuwaiti politician, has said that men should use women as sex slaves.
But there’s more.
She adds that prisoners from war-torn countries would make good sex slaves. Since they’re already conquered, they should be used as concubines. They get a home, a man, and the only thing they have to give in return is sex — whenever their owner demands it.
When she asked the Saudi muftis if there was an Islamic law against selling women as slaves, she was told that it wasn’t forbidden. Women could be taken as slaves if they were prisoners of war.
The man “just buys her and that’s it. That’s enough to serve as a marriage,” said al Mutairi.
Ms. al Mutairi, a former parliamentary candidate, says there’s no shame in selling women for the pleasure of men who are “overpowered by desire.” If the caliph Haroun al Rashid had one wife and over 2,000 concubines in his possession, it sets a precedent for other men to follow suit.
Sadly, a woman is endorsing this sexist, patriarchal and unethical practice.
Prisoners of war are victims that should be helped rather than being made into servants for horny men with no obvious moral code. It’s a cruel and unjust punishment for women of war-torn countries who have already been to hell and back.

Shameful. Women hating women must be the biggest barrier we face to sexual equality. Unfortunately this isn’t just about sex, many women can be bought (and some are willing to sell themselves and encourage other women to do it) and in countries where they are unable to have financial independence they are already slaves to their husbands (well, many are…some are lucky). I don’t believe whilst women can be bought or sold (by force or voluntarily) we can ever achieve real equality. Money equals power and control and real equality means being free from power plays, whether that’s sex, marriage or whatever. But that’s just my opinion and a highly idealistic one, I’m aware!
