Princess Leia is embedded in our minds, cinnamon bun hair and all. For many men of our generation she was their first fantasy and for many of us, she presented a strong woman who merged strength and sexuality.

But this Leia fixation allowed my childhood mind to gloss over the fact that these movies are not actually very female friendly. Unless you’re going to grow to be a stripper or a princess there aren’t many options — 3.5 female character ranging over three movies.
