Teen Parents Make It Work
July 7, 2011 No CommentsThis young couple and parents of three proves that teen pregnancies can lead to a happy life.
Michael Fernandes, 22, and Cheryl Holden,24, are the parents of 3 children, the oldest is 8 years old. When Michael was only 13 and Cheryl was only 15, the youngsters revealed to family and friends that they were expecting a child. A terrifying fate at such a young age, but they made it work from the start. Both finished school and helped to properly raise Liam. Michael got a dish washing job as soon as he was able while completing his school years while Cheryl finished up herself and stayed at home to raise Liam.
Eight years later, they now also have a 3 year old, Bryan, and an 11 month old, Archie. They admit that getting married first, buying a home, and then having children is obviously the easier, more desired route. Michael realizes that his first son Liam will soon be nearing the age that he was when he became a father. So, he wishes to instill within Liam to wait to have children, get an education and take the appropriate steps first.
Many people believe that teens who have children are naturally irresponsible “bad kids” who are incapable of raising themselves, let alone a baby. But Michael and Cheryl are just one example of a young people who can take nay-sayers negativity and tell them to shove it.
True love can come at any age. Sure, having a baby at such a young age makes things rough, but hardly means that they are bad people who are incapable of actually staying together. These young parents were responsible to their kids, society, and eachother.
They have managed to make a life for themselves and their three children, and now they will be married, according to The Daily Mail. Since money is tight, they are taking part in a radio contest to win a dream wedding. Having said that, they would rather spend money on the children over saving up for the wedding. Let’s hope they win!
Good luck to Michael and Cheryl! Proof positive that love can conquer all.
