Hitler On Hormones
August 15, 2011 No CommentsThere was nothing soft or kind about Hitler. If I could use one term to describe him it would probably be “cold-blooded killer,” but you have to wonder: would Hitler have been more in touch with his “feminine side” if he downed a bit of estrogen?
Throughout the war, the Allies looked at various ways to stop Hitler and his fascist regime. Brutal war tactics may have reigned supreme, but it seems that British spies had unique plans of their own to stop the madman in his tracks. Spiking his food with estrogen, they believed, would make him “more feminine and less aggressive.”
“There was an Allied plan that they would smuggle estrogen into Hitler’s food and change his sex,” according to Professor Brian Ford, a science writer and fellow of Cardiff University.
Ford unearthed this “hare-brained” scheme that, to us, is nothing short of laughable. Neutering a male cat may make him less aggressive, but secretly feeding estrogen to a sociopath will probably only mess up their hormones — not their mind.
Hitler is certainly one of the most (if not the most) violent men in history, but we can’t forget that there have also been tyrannical women. To name a few, Karla Homolka, Myra Hindley and Aileen Wuornos were murderous women far from traditional stereotypes of “femininity.”
We can’t deny that hormones do play a biological role, but it’s too simplistic to say that sex dictates disposition. Gandhi and Hitler were both men who led their people, but they did so in completely different ways.
Even with estrogen flowing through his veins, Hitler probably would have been just as ruthless and inhumane.
