Go To Church, Get a Handjob
September 12, 2011 1 CommentThe Phoenix Goddess Temple sounds like a brothel masquerading as a religious center, and they might be in trouble if the law decides it is.
The Temple claims to offer “touch healing” to balance energy for those suffering from sexual “wounds.” The Phoenix New Times reported, and found a brothel-esque “healing centre” where there are sessions of anal and genital stimulation from “goddesses.” They sat in as Wayne Clayton, “touch healer,” received a touch session for himself. It included a sexually charged draping of a sarong over his body and then a prostate massage ending in orgasm. Seems like a pretty normal church to me!
It was only a matter of time before the legal system found out and freaked out. Wayne Clayton is just one of 16 people being detained for questioning after their temple was raided this past Wednesday. He is also one of 12 who is being indicted on grand jury charges of illegal control of an enterprise, maintaining a house of prostitution, and receiving the earnings of a prostitute.
This raises some interesting questions, like if someone believes that orgasms are a religious experience does that mean that they are protected from sex laws? Does this mean that religions with a sexual component are not considered legitimate? Does the government have a right to make that distinction?
Whether the law determines this was a brothel posing as a church, or a religious centre that offered sexual services for a fee, one thing is clear — all eyes will be on the outcome of this case.
