Get Out of Bed! Your Mind, Body And Weight All Depend On It!
September 16, 2011 No CommentsGet out of bed, lazy head! A new study has found that people who are more keen on jumping out of bed early in the morning are more likely to thrive in the workplace, get the kids off to school more efficiently and accomplish morning chores much easier than those who can’t fight off the divine comfort of a warm bed.
People who sleep in have been found to be more likely to be depressed, stressed or overweight. A survey asked 1,068 adults about happiness, anxiety, physical health and eating and sleeping habits. “Morning people” were defined as those who woke up on average at 6:58 am. Night owls were more prone to wake up around 8:54 am.
Dr Joerg Huber of Roehampton University seems to think that the extra time in the day can be thanked for a lower body mass index and all of the other benefits of being an early riser. It makes sense, but could that really be the reason? Time? And also, is it realistic to blame a later wake up time on being overweight? Maybe waking up later says something about your workout abilities or drive.
All I know is I sure as hell put myself in the night owl category. Do I blame that for my weight, anxiety, and depression issues? Come on now.
