Sluts Enhance The Human Race
September 23, 2011 1 CommentFemale promiscuity confuses scientists. Obviously there is a biological imperative for men to cheat (obviously!), but why on earth would a woman stray?
A study on red flour beetles (yes, beetles) has concluded that women may have a natural drive to compare sperm samples before deciding on which to commit to for nine months.
Researchers at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom found that inbred female beetles, who are ultimately handicapped when it comes to reproduction, are more likely to procreate the more males they mate with. Therefore, testing the waters allowed them to determine which would be the most compatible. Pretty awesome for a little lady beetle.
So what does this say for us? Well, they may be beetles and we may not be inbred, but this scientific finding has proved that when women have sex with multiple partners before deciding on one to procreate with, it is much better for the kids. They say that men have sex with multiple partners to share their biology far and wide. They blame it on science and a natural need to shoot their seed, so now we can too!
It is interesting to know that testing out multiple partners before becoming pregnant may actually be better for creating families in the end.

I wasn’t sure about the use of the word slut here. I was trying to find a word that combined “promiscuous” and “woman” and it was the obvious choice. Because I don’t think there is anything wrong with being a slut, I didn’t mind using it in the headline. We feminists have reclaimed it for a while now.
But then I began to think about my audience. If someone were to stumble across it via a google search, for example, would they get that? Or would they just internalize another nasty message about women?
The problem with taking a word back is you can’t always return the baggage that comes with it.
