Cheat On Your Husband But Not Your Diet

Some say men think about sex every 52 seconds, others predict it’s closer to every seven. But just how often do women’s minds wander to sex, and is it our number one concern?

Apparently not.

A new study reveals more than 50 percent of women think more often about food than they do about sex. Of the 1,300 respondents to the survey, one-in-four admitted they put more effort into dieting than they did into their relationship while one-in-ten said they’d feel guiltier about deviating from their diet than they would about being unfaithful to their partner.

Before we start taking this study as gospel, I’d like to point out that it may not be water-tight. The research was conducted by weight loss company Atkins, and all the participants were dieters, so it’s not necessarily going be representative of the general population of women.

What’s more, perhaps there is some explanation of the findings that can be attributed to factors other than the fact that women are crazy eunuchs obsessed with nothing but their weight. Maybe some women who are dieting have less interest in sex because they don’t feel good about themselves or their bodies, or maybe those committed to the Atkins diet are forced to think more often about food because of the precise calorie calculations.

That’s not to say this research doesn’t have any merit. After all, on any given day, close to 50 percent of American women are on a diet and we’re predicted to spend 31 years of our lives watching our weight. But who draws the line between strict dieting and simply trying to make healthy eating choices? And does “thinking about food” automatically mean worrying about your diet… couldn’t you just be looking forward to a chocolate cookie at afternoon tea time?

It’s fair to say though that the battle between food and sex is a hard one, one that most women will wage at some time in their lives. In a perfect world we should, and could, have either whenever we wanted. In a perfect world indeed….

What do you think about more often: food or sex?
