“Let Women Die” Act Is Passed

October 14, 2011 1 Comment

The “Let Women Die” Act, H.R. 358 just passed in the American House of Representatives. Now medical officials can”exercise their conscience” and deny pregnant women treatment, and leave them to die. Yes, you read that right.

This is, believe it or not, is the “Protect Life Act.” So here’s the deal: Women on the brink of death will be refused an abortion to save her life. If an abortion is what could save her, she will not be given what she needs. She will be left to die and the child will be saved. Not only that, insurance coverage for reproductive services will be dropped and health officials can “choose” whether they wish to participate in abortion care.

“This bill is a collection of dangerous ideas that will undermine women’s health. Most devastating, the bill eliminates protections for patients seeking care in emergency circumstances, and would allow a hospital to deny lifesaving abortion care to a woman, even if a doctor deems it necessary,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Luckily, Obama has stated that he would veto the bill if he were given it. The Administration opposes H.R. 358 due to its intrusion on women’s reproductive and medical freedom. Well thank God somebody in government sees how ridiculous that sounds.
