Get It While You Still Can! Men Are Losing Their Hormones
November 4, 2011 No CommentsWhile the world has been busy obsessing over female hormones and growth, we have missed out on a huge problem affecting us in a different way. Forty percent of men over the age of 45 have a testosterone deficiency. Uh oh.
Aside from the expected irritability and loss in strength, almost all of the symptoms surround sexuality. No more morning wood, less ejaculate than before, infertility and less sex drive. We know that Viagra exists and that men sometimes need a boost, but who knew it was this bad and affected so many dudes? And subsequently affected women?
Apparently, unlike women who seem to drop in estrogen levels almost suddenly once they reach menopause, doctors are finding that men experience a slow and steady decline throughout the years. “Hypogonadism” is the name they gave the slow process of a 1.5 percent decrease in testosterone each year starting at age 30. This is the reason why women going through menopause will forever be known as “crazy!” Men are in fact going through the same process, but much slower. Damn you, Mother Nature.
So what do they do? Well, there are controversial testosterone treatments becoming more prevalent, but less researched than hormone treatments for women. Five percent of the 40 percent experiencing a loss of testosterone have been diagnosed and received treatments.
It does seem a bit ridiculous that they feel the need to “regain” their masculinity through treatments. Women accept “the change” and welcome it is a new chapter in their lives. Why must men crap all over the process? Well, its a new idea. Men are used to being the macho guys who can take care of their women and then penetrate them later. As much as it would be nice to say that they shouldn’t feel the need to change their bodies, I know I still want good sex once I reach 40! And so will he. Maybe if testosterone treatments became prominent, Viagra wouldn’t be such a necessity for some men.
All I hope is that by the time I’m 40, my partner can still get it up and actually get it on.
