Ladies, Keep Loving Those Vibrators!

November 7, 2011 No Comments

Yet another sex myth has been debunked! As it turns out, men are not actually intimidated by vibrators. A study of over 3,000 Americans ages 18 to 60 found that it is only a myth. In fact, the only people who really think that sex toys scare away men are women!

Thirty-seven percent of women said that using a vibrator would upset male partners while 70 percent of men said they were fine with it. Turns out it’s all in our heads.

Another interesting find was that only 10 percent of those surveyed agreed with negative statements like “vibrators make women too dependent on them.” While I love the idea, you have to wonder how a university gets funding to study vibrators.

So American men are a lot more mature than we think. They can handle the idea that women enjoy sexual pleasure and at times choose to get it through technological means. Why can’t the media catch up with them? While the men surveyed are living in the modern age, TV shows, movies and the news are still living largely in the 50s.

Women who are sexually independent are still portrayed as dangerous sexual deviants. Female characters who use vibrators are deemed unloveable (Samantha is the only Sex and the City gal who remains husbandless). If the majority of Americans can handle sexual women, why can’t the media? Let’s get rid of these stale female archetypes. Think of how much better movies would be if their female characters had some sexual depth.
