“Witch” Beheaded in Saudi Arabia
December 15, 2011 1 Comment
Amina bint Abdulhalim Nassar, a Saudi woman, was beheaded this week for practicing witchcraft and sorcery.
The evidence against her was a book on the subject, a number of veils, and bottle filled with a liquid “used for sorcery.” She also worked as a healer.
And according to Amnesty International, these aren’t even official crimes in Saudi Arabia, but rather “smokescreens” used when people exercise free speech.
This is disgraceful. If she was a healer she was helping people. If she was a witch then she was practicing her religion. And if she was saying something the government didn’t like then she had a right to her opinion.
Whichever way you look at it, the execution of Nassar was completely uncalled for.
