Doctor Abused Patients In Navy
January 25, 2012 1 Comment
A Canadian navy medic, James Wilks, who took advantage of his patients and was subsequently jailed has just had new charges laid on him.
He was convicted last year of sexual assault and was sent to jail for nine months.
Now, like with many of these cases, more people have come forward to say he also assaulted them when he was in a position of trust. These will be:
- “Four new counts of sexual assault and 10 counts of breach of trust for alleged acts committed while performing physical exams on Canadian Forces recruits and serving members.”
These assaults happened between 2002 and 2009. It’s despicable that this doctor got away with this for so long — how far back does it really go? Doctors are meant to help people heal their bodies, not cause more damage and trauma.
It’s sad that so many of these cases seem to be in the news these days, but at least these people are finally being caught and brought to task for it.

Men in positions of power often have so much capacity to do good and sadly, shirk and/or decline that responsibility. Exhibit B: Joe Paterno http://jezebel.com/5878219/penn-state-football-coach-joe-paterno-dies-at-85
