Santorum Likes Controlling Women’s Bodies

January 25, 2012 No Comments

Rick Santorum, I feel sorry for any daughter of yours!

Santorum, a candidate to become the Republican nominee for the presidential race late this year, says that if his daughter conceived a baby through rape he would counsel her against an abortion calling the baby a “gift from God.”

If any woman became pregnant following rape and wanted to keep the baby for her own personal reasons then that would a completely valid decision for her to make. But Santorum, a person who could never suffer that fate, has absolutely no right whatsoever to tell a rape victim how they should consider a resulting pregnancy. The bare face arrogance of the man is astonishing.

It’s the job of a father to support and take care of a child, especially when they are in trouble – not boss them about, pressure them and bully them.

It’s about time that men in grey suits like Santorum stop making decisions for women based on the fact that their moral compass points to a particular answer. The only moral compass that matters is that belonging to the woman dealing with the situation.
