Breaking News: Most Women’s Bras Are Uncomfortable And Don’t Fit
April 4, 2012 No Comments
A new study shows that 80 percent of Australian women wear bras that don’t fit. A separate study had similar results, with 85 percent of women wearing the wrong bra.
We all like to tell ourselves that our bras fit perfectly fine. Because, let’s face it, fitting rooms suck and we want to get out of there as soon as possible. I don’t know which I hate more, shopping for jeans or shopping for bras.
But buying the wrong bra can actually be a serious problem. If women with large breasts don’t get the right support it can lead to back pain, posture problems and neck pain. Women of any breast size have this risk, and bra discomfort prevents many from jogging or exercising.
“Women don’t expect bras to be comfortable,” Dr. Deirdre McGhee, the study’s lead researcher, said. They assume that no bra will fit them correctly and resign themselves to a life of chafing and discomfort.
Well, ladies, maybe it’s time to expect more from our brassieres. Getting a proper bra fitting can be awkward and embarrassing. In fact, McGhee believes that this is one of the main reasons that women’s bras don’t fit.
So let’s woman-up, go into that fitting room and let someone measure our breasts. What’s 15 minutes of awkwardness when it gets you a happy, comfortable chest? Our breasts do a lot for us, and they deserve some respect.
